The first case of monkey pox was confirmed in Brazil.
Brazil’s Ministry of Health said in a statement released on the 8th (local time) that a man in his 40s living in São Paulo, who had recently visited Spain, was diagnosed with monkey pox.
The man is currently isolated at the Emilio Rivas Hospital in downtown São Paulo.
In Brazil, eight suspected cases of monkey pox have been reported nationwide in addition to the confirmed male. The Ministry of Health is monitoring them all under quarantine.
Meanwhile, monkey pox, which has been established as an endemic disease in Central and West Africa, has spread to Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Australia, causing tensions in the global health care community.
