This was reported to Trade the mayor of Miraflores Luis Molina, who pointed out that this cable car will seek to connect the Malecón with the beaches of the Costa Verde, purely for tourist purposes. He also explained that this private initiative will have an investment of 11 million dollars.
“The work will be entirely private and will not commit public resources It is planned that this transport system will have two stations: at the height of the Domodossola park, on the upper surface of the cliff, and on Redondo beach, on the Costa Verde“, accurate.
The cable car It will have two cabins, which can carry up to 15 people. These will make round trips. Likewise, each trip will last approximately three minutes.
In addition, each cabin must be equipped with an automatic sliding door, which closes and locks automatically at the stations. It will also have racks for transporting bicycles, easy access for wheelchairs and strollers for babies.
Other features included are windows and an air circulation system for tropical climates, an emergency communication system with the stations (two-way intercom), internal and external lighting with LED technology, and power supply for electronic or audio devices.
Viability
André Nery, dean of Architecture and Urbanism at the Scientific University of the South, said he agreed with the implementation of a mechanical connection, but specified that being the objective of a cable car To connect one area to another, points of interest must first be identified at the top and bottom.
“Los cable cars Normally they take you to a viewpoint, to an area with a certain type of recreation or tourist attraction, something that in the whole Costa Verde there is no, we do not see a clear use of this site. The use for the pedestrian itself is very precarious, it is still a road designed more for the car. Will people just come and sit and watch the beach?“, held.
The specialist added that if you want to think of Lima as a connected city, there should be a coordination to generate a proposal that really connects the different districts. “The cable car would have to be part of a comprehensive plan to improve the entire Costa Verde for the benefit of Limeños and tourists”, he highlighted.
