Marco: Mercedes cars are incredibly fast sometimes

After seven Grands Prix, Red Bull Racing is 101 points ahead of Mercedes in the Constructors’ Championship, but Red Bull consultant Helmut Marko believes that rivals will be able to impose a fight on the leaders if they solve problems with their car.

Helmut Marko: “In training and racing, the cars of Hamilton and Russell sometimes drive incredibly fast laps. This does not happen all the time, so it is difficult for us to understand where such lap times come from. If you listen carefully to the words of people from Mercedes, it seems that they do not know the reason either, but it is obvious that this car has potential. And if they can implement it throughout the race, they will be in the lead.

It is very difficult to understand why their car is sometimes incredibly fast. At one stage they were at some point the fastest, but this did not last long. What exactly is causing the loss of speed, why can’t they drive like that all the time? Luckily for us, they haven’t found an answer yet.”
