According to its own statements, the world’s leading provider of GPS trackers for dogs and cats, Tractive, headquartered in Pasching (Linz-Land district), is introducing the four-day week.
From now on, instead of 38.5 hours (five days full-time), the working hours will be 35 hours four days a week with the same salary, the company announced in a broadcast on Wednesday. The reason for the reduction in working hours was, among other things, the results of an employee survey.
Founder and managing director of the start-up, Michael Hurnaus, said he had “well thought out” this step. In terms of work-life balance, he expects more motivated and healthier employees in the long term.
With the four-day week, a full-time employee will now work 8.75 hours a day. Tractive currently employs 165 people in Austria and the USA, around a fifth part-time. 40 to 50 new workers are being sought. In July, the company moves into the new building in Pasching near the current location.
A year ago, the company received capital of 35 million US dollars (28.54 million euros) from the American investor Guidepost Growth Equity. The aim is not only to expand market leadership in Europe, but also to gain a foothold in the USA. Tractive claims to have more than 500,000 active subscribers in 175 countries.
