Mercato: Gareth Bale has been proposed to Getafe

The Welsh winger is looking for a new club this summer, following nine seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu side.

Club president Angel Torres has revealed that small La Liga side Getafe have been offered a free transfer from Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale.

Getafe president contacted

Bale spent the last nine years of his career at Madrid, where he won three La Liga titles and five Champions Leagues while scoring over 100 goals.

His role in the squad has been reduced in recent seasons, however, and the club have confirmed that his contract will not be extended beyond June 30.

Bale has been heavily linked with a return to the Premier League following spells at Tottenham and Southampton, but it appears his agents are looking for other suitors in Spain.

Getafe president Mr Torres claims the 32-year-old’s representatives have been contacted to find out if they are interested in his move to the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

The Madrid club are considered one of the smallest clubs in La Liga and will certainly not compete with Los Blancos for top honors in the Spanish capital, but Torres sees Bale’s arrival as a realistic ‘possibility’.

“Some may think it’s a joke, but 45 or 50 minutes ago I spoke with his agents, and they offered him to us. It’s not a joke,” Getafe president told reporters .

“I have to think regarding it and talk to the coach regarding it. I don’t know if he will come. Of course it’s a possibility, all great footballers are.

“They offered it to me and I kindly listened to it. From there, I will consult the coach. Anything is possible.”

Bale secures ‘plenty of offers’

Bale addressed ongoing speculation over his future before helping Wales reach their first World Cup in 64 years with a play-off win over Ukraine.

The veteran striker said he had “no worries” regarding his future and was only focused on the game, but when asked if he had any offers on the table for next season, he replied, “Yes, I have plenty.”
