Emirates News Agency – The National Archives and Library celebrates International Archives Week

ABU DHABI, 7 June / WAM / The National Archives and the Library started its celebrations of the World Archives Week, which comes in celebration of the World Archives Day, which falls on 9 June.

The celebrations of the National Archives and the National Library come on this occasion as the true incubator of the memory of the nation, and it works to document the past and codify the present by collecting historical documents from the official authorities in the country and preserving them in the most appropriate place to live long and be passed on by generations who have the right to be proud of what our dear emirates witnessed in the past and witnessed Today, it is developing and prospering under our wise leadership.

The celebration of the National Archives and Library on this occasion is represented by its participation in a number of specialized events, most notably: the “Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain in Document and Archive Management” conference, which is organized by the International Council on Archives for its members only.

On this occasion, the National Archives and the Library organized a “Forum on the Role of Governmental Agencies in Supporting the Memory of the Nation”, and also participated in a symposium on “National Archives in Islamic Countries: Distinguished Experiences and Future Directions” in Riyadh.

The celebrations of the National Archives and the National Library started yesterday by participating in the virtual conference “Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain in the Management of Documents and Archives” organized by the International Council on Archives, through the TEMS program, and it participates in this conference – related to modern technologies – with a working paper on “Application of Artificial Intelligence and a Chain Blocks in the field of document and archive management,” while the National Archives and Library held today the “Forum on the Role of Government Agencies in Supporting the Memory of the Nation,” which addressed the role of government agencies in supporting the memory of the nation through organizing and preserving archives, with a presentation and discussion of distinct actual experiences in the country.

In this forum, His Excellency Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Acting Director-General of the National Archives and Library, spoke regarding the importance of the commemoration of the World Archives Day, the integration of the archive and the national library, the positive impact of this on the state archives, the provision of documented information to researchers, and the efforts made by the archive and the national library to The level of the organization of archives in official bodies and their reflection on the preservation of historical documents, the role of the National Archives and Library in qualifying archival cadres with training courses, workshops and lectures, which are constantly organized by experts and specialists in archival affairs, and the cooperation of the National Archives and Library with Sorbonne Abu Dhabi University in creating higher academic degrees in archival studies, His Excellency congratulated the International Council on Archives on the anniversary of its founding in 1948, which coincides with the International Day of Archives.

The forum was attended by: His Excellency Salah Al Mahmoud, Director General of the Sharjah Documentation and Archives Authority, His Excellency Khalid Nasser Al Raisi, Adviser to the Minister of Justice, and His Excellency Rashid Al Dhaheri, Director of Documents and Archives Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The session was moderated by Hamad Al Mutairi, Director of Archives Department at the National Archives and Library.

The National Archives and the Library are also participating in the symposium “National Archives in Islamic Countries: Distinguished Experiences and Future Directions” in Riyadh, the capital of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
