Russia now sees “unlikely” to resume dialogue with the US on nuclear weapons

The Kremlin considered this Monday “improbable” the prompt resumption of the dialogue on nuclear weapons with USAdespite emphasizing the importance of these talks.

“Currently that is unlikely, but sooner or later we will have to return to that issue,” said the spokesman for the Russian Presidency, Dmitry Peskovin his daily press conference.

He added that Moscow is “interested” in security negotiations with EE. UU.above all, as a result of the “tectonic movements” that are occurring now.

“These conversations are necessary, the whole world needs them,” he assured.

DISTANCE BETWEEN BOTH COUNTRIES

The Kremlin spokesman thus commented on statements by the ambassador of EE. UU., in MoscowJohn Sullivan, who said on Monday that the world’s two largest nuclear powers must continue to talk.

“We are never going to distance ourselves completely. We cannot break diplomatic relations and stop talking to each other,” the US diplomat told the TASS agency.

At the same time, he indicated that one of the most important issues in bilateral relations is the talks on nuclear weapons.

Sullivan, like Peskov, was unable to answer when they might resume.
