The defending champion of the African Cup of Nations, Senegal, has applied to organize the 36th edition of the CAN, the 2027 edition.
Several African media have reported that the country of the Lions of Teranga has officially applied to host the biggest football competition on the continent.
It should be noted that Senegal will be challenged by Burkina Faso, Morocco, Zambia, Tanzania and the joint bid of the Botswana-Namibia duo.
The CAF Executive Committee will designate the host country at the beginning of 2023.
Last February, the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium (former head of state of Senegal), a football stadium with international standards, designed and built by two Turkish companies, was inaugurated in the Senegalese capital, Dakar.
The Presidents of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, of Guinea-Bissau Umaru Sissoco Embalo, of Liberia George Weah and of Gambian Adama Barrow, had attended the inauguration ceremony.
