For almost four years, dinosaur fans have waited with undisguised impatience for the return of creatures from the Mesozoic era. We are not talking regarding Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum or Sam Neill, star actors of the first Jurassic Park present in this last episode, but of T-Rex and bloodthirsty carnivores. Now that we’ve seen The World After, you don’t have to wait to find out if Jurassic World 3 has anything to make you roar with pleasure.

Jurassic World: The World After, Life Always Finds a Way
Four years following the events of Fallen Kingdom that both caused the destruction of Isla Nublar and forced the cohabitation between dinosaurs and humans on Earth, life on our beautiful blue planet has become more than complicated. Every tree in a forest can hide a velociraptor, while skyscrapers serve as perches for pterodactyls. The trawlers are attacked by megalodons, and the shipyards are interrupted by brontosaurs seeking their way. “Life cannot be contained, life takes off, life conquers new territories” warned the irreverent Ian Malcolm in the laboratories of Jurassic Park in 1993. He was right. Dinosaurs are now everywhere, and official agencies are struggling to contain their threat. Worse, the multinationals specializing in genetics intend to take advantage of the arrival of these creatures from the past for unmentionable ends. This is the case of BioSyn which, with the help of Dr. Henry Wu (BD Wong), will release a new species of giant grasshopper likely to upset the food balance of our world.
Jurassic World: The World After is the third installment in the Jurassic World series, and the sixth Jurassic Park released to date.. In this action film, which will be released in theaters on June 8, 2022, we find the heroes of previous Jurassic World with Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), Maisie Lockwood (Isabella Sermon), Zia Rodriguez (Daniella Pineda) and Franklin Webb (Justice Smith) as well as those of the first Jurassic Park with Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) and Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum). Other characters from former Jurassic Worlds also make an appearance, but we won’t say anything so as not to spoil any surprises. Directed by Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World 1 & 2) from a script by Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim: Uprising) and Derek Connolly (Pokémon: Detective Pikachu), the film has Steven Spielberg as executive producer. The music, very present, is managed by Michael Giacchino (Jurassic World, Spider-Man: No Way Home, The Batman).
The satisfying conclusion to a cult series?
The promise of Jurassic World: The World After is to conclude the Jurassic World trilogy by closing the story arcs of Claire and Owen. It remained to be seen how Colin Trevorrow would go regarding bringing down the curtain. It’s simple, he chose to chain the impressive scenes filled with dinosaurs at a frantic pace. The world following exudes generosity through all its scales. This is the episode that displays the most different dinosaurs on screen, that has the most actors”bankables” with the return of the ancients, and which has the most action sequences. We wouldn’t go so far as to say that the suspense reaches the level of that of the first two Jurassic Park, but certain scenes play with the viewer’s nerves in an effective way. In Jurassic World 3, danger is everywhere, it comes from the air, from the fields, from the trees, from the water, from the fire, through large beasts as well as smaller ones.
Fans of the series will be delighted to learn that unlike what we saw in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the heroes of yesteryear do not make up the numbers. They have real screen time, without equaling that of the Owen/Claire duo of course. Certain dialogues between the old and the new team are particularly worth the detour. Full of winks for long-time enthusiasts while remaining understandable for newcomers, the film directed by Colin Trevorrow provides the (big) show. Early life fans may regret one aspect”for all” taken to the extreme, with very little blood shown on screen and lots of off-camera death. Furthermore, the “bad guys” have the annoying tendency to die easily where the “friendly” get out of inextricable situations, unlike what we had in the first two episodes directed by Spielberg. The scenario also allows itself some jokes. That being said, the action scenes are worth the detour: Jurassic World 3 is a roller coaster full of loops located in the heart of a nest of velociraptors.
An open door for a possible Jurassic World 4?
Without saying too much regarding the end of the World following, several elements indicate that a sequel might be possible. Important characters with troubled pasts are still alive, and the final minutes leave several doors open. Frank Marshall, producer of Jurassic World has also declared that this third episode “concludes the trilogy” but that the team “does not rest on its laurels”. He adds : “we’ll sit down, and we’ll see what the future holds. We obviously want to make quality films, good storytelling, great writers and directors. We’re definitely looking to do more in Jurassic World.”. As our dear Homo sapiens friends would say, “wait and see”.
