Apple announced iOS 16 at WWDC 2022 and today released iOS 16 Beta 1 for developers.
Until iOS15, all updates, including security updates, required manual updates unless the automatic update feature was turned on, but in iOS16 this has changed.
With the Rapid Security Response function, security updates are automatically installed on iOS 16.
According to MacRumors, Apple introduced the Rapid Security Response feature in iOS 16 and changed it so that security updates can be installed automatically, unlike standard software updates.
In iOS16, there is a new “Install System and Data Files” option in the “Settings”> “General”> “Software Update” section.
On iOS16, “Install System and Data Files” is enabled by default during installation, so users can receive security updates without doing anything.
If you don’t want to install security updates automatically, such as when using the Jable Break app,You must manually turn off “Install system and data files”.
