At WWDC 2022 held today (7th), Apple announced that games such as “Evil Castle: Village”, “GRID Legends” and “No Man’s Sky” can be played on the Mac. The common feature is the use of Apple’s MetalFX Upscaling technology, which allows the Apple Silicon architecture processor to play 3A-level works.
According to Apple, MetalFX Upscaling technology can maximize the performance of the game, allowing “Evil Castle: Village” to be played on a Macbook Air in a 1080p execution environment, and if it is a better Mac Studio, it can be supported to 4K resolution environment.
In addition, Apple has also imported the Fast Resource Loading API, the main purpose is to shorten the data transmission to reduce the reading time, so that the required resources can be loaded faster during the execution of the game, and the reading time of high-resolution materials can be enhanced.
Apple’s move also means that there will be an opportunity to introduce more games to the Apple Silicon series of computers in the future. It is currently known that the above three games will be launched in the second half of this year.
