the big warning from Jill Peeters, Belgian meteorologist, “we must be prepared for something unimaginable”

On the set of VTM Nieuws, meteorologist and Flemish climate expert Jill Peeters sounded the alarm regarding the bad weather that has occurred in Belgium in recent days. “Keep in mind that sometimes we have to be prepared for something unimaginable,” she warned.

Inevitably, the floods that once more affected Belgium bring back very bad memories to many people. Jill Peeters explains that there is a “big difference in terms of weather with what happened last summer”. “It was the wettest summer we’ve ever had. It was also quantities five to six times greater than what we have today, ”adds the meteorologist.

But Jill Peeters warns, because these bad weather is synonymous with climate change. “The extremes are getting more and more extreme. We know this from science. It is a signature of what climate change can mean. It’s hard to prepare for this. Keep in mind that sometimes we have to be prepared for something unimaginable,” she warns.
