Sharjah, June 6 / WAM / The Committee for Education, Culture, Media and Youth Affairs of the Consultative Council of the Emirate of Sharjah, during its visit today to the Department of Theater at the Department of Culture in Sharjah, was briefed on its efforts, roles, upcoming activities, and its role in supporting theatrical performers and continuing to organize theatrical days.
The visit comes as part of the committee’s work during the third regular session of the tenth legislative term and within the framework of its tours to review the performance of cultural institutions. The delegation of the committee included Dr. Hamid Jassim Al-Suwaiji Al-Zaabi, the head of the committee and members of the committee, Sharifa Musa Al-Mazmi, the committee’s rapporteur, Nabila Ali Al-Hammadi, Aisha Bukhatir and Sheikha Ibrahim bin Juwaid He demanded Al-Bali Al-Dhahouri and the General Secretariat of the Council, Huda Al-Hammadi, the Secretary of the Committee.
Dr. Humaid Jassim Al Suwaiji Al Zaabi stressed the importance of the committee’s visit to the theater management and to inform it of its continuous work throughout the year, a translation of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah in taking care of theatre, praising the administration’s efforts within the work of the Department of Culture in caring for theatre. And the presentation of events and continuous days that enhance the orientations of the Emirate of Sharjah in supporting theatrical actors.
For his part, Ahmed Muhammad Burhaima, Director of the Theater Department, praised the keenness of the Consultative Council to advance the cultural landmarks in the emirate, as Sharjah is a pioneer in all its cultural, artistic and theatrical programs at the local, Gulf and Arab levels, and it has also assumed global roles in this regard.
He pointed out that the administration, as part of the Department of Culture, is pleased to inform the committee regarding theatrical aspects, plans and programs implemented throughout the year in the field of theater, both in the Emirate of Sharjah and abroad. It is held regularly under the patronage of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah through the participation of theater groups and work to support them and enhance their roles and the roles of theatrical movement on a permanent basis.
During the meeting, members of the Sharjah Consultation Committee discussed a number of scenarios that would support theatrical movement in the Emirate of Sharjah, including festivals, discovering talented people, especially in schools, supporting capacities, writers and actors, providing an incubating environment for theatrical works, supporting the production of targeted plays, and communicating with authorities, associations and specialized teams to attract artists and writers, in addition to The educational role and the award of specialized diplomas.
