WhatsApp is working on the beta version of a new feature, editing messages once they have been sent. This will prevent people from having to delete messages and then rewrite them.
Through your account Twitter, the specialized medium WABetaInfo has been in charge of advancing the news of the new function of the platform. Likewise, the portal recalls that in 2017, WhatsApp would have already talked regarding an edit button for sent messages, however, it ended up discarding the changes just a few days later.
What will this new WhatsApp option mean
The objective of this new functionality is that if you have made a mistake in some way when writing, users can edit their messages following they have been sent.
Although still there is no information on whether there will be a certain period of time to make the edition of the message following being sent, what is known is that to access the edition you must keep the message pressed, which will display a submenu with options. After finishing the edition, it would be necessary to save it so that the changes take place.
For now, the possibility of entering an edit history has been ruled out of messages, which will allow users to verify previous versions of the message. Although, these WhatsApp plans might change when the update is finally released.
The company is located in the early stages of function development so there is still a little time before it is integrated into the final version. The update will be available on iOS and Android operating systems.
Editing sent messages is not new
For WhatsApp, the fact of introducing an option to edit sent messages is a revolutionary idea, as it had been quite reluctant to work on this function. In fact, not only does it not allow it, but when a user deletes a sent message a notification regarding the action is displayed. The recipient cannot see the deleted message, but they can see the notification that a message has been deleted.
However, if compared to Telegram, the biggest competition of the application, it has available the function of edition of messages sent since 2016. In addition to that it does not show any notification when deleting a message following being sent. Only in case of editing a sent message, a small note is displayed indicating that it was modified following it was sent.
