A young man with a gun in a regional express triggered a police operation early on Pentecost Sunday.
Two travelers on the train from Elsterwerda to Rostock had informed the train attendant that there was a male person on the train who was handling a weapon, as the federal police said. The conductor informed the police. Since a life-threatening situation might not be ruled out, forces from the Güstrow Police Headquarters and the Rostock Federal Police Inspectorate were ordered to the site with heavy protective equipment, it was said.
The suspicious passenger – an 18-year-old – was arrested at the train station in Güstrow. He had two airsoft guns and the necessary ammunition with him. Weapons and ammunition were secured. The regional express then continued its journey towards Rostock with a ten-minute delay, according to the federal police.
Airsoft guns often look deceptively similar to real guns. They are used in tactical off-road games and do not cause fatal injuries. Investigations were initiated once morest the 18-year-old from Thuringia for violating the Weapons Act. He was released once more.
