[주말엔 건강] It’s early June and it’s already hot! What is your comfort food?

[아이뉴스24 정종오 기자] There is no rain, and the sweltering heat of early summer has already begun. There are days when the midday temperature is close to 30 degrees Celsius. In summer, when the scorching heat is rampant, many people feel fatigued or low energy. drowsy and easily tired I have no appetite and sweat at night. I feel like I haven’t even slept.

It is not easy for the elderly who do not have energy to spend the hot summer. It is helpful to energize the body with samgyetang, grilled eel, and chueotang. Of course, not only these foods, but also ‘your own health food’ that is perfect for you.

In summer, sweating a lot can deplete the body’s yang. Compared to hot weather, the inside of the human body can become relatively cold. When there are many outdoor activities or overwork, symptoms of lack of yang can appear more easily inside the human body. Since ancient times, it has been passed down the wisdom of two fevers by eating hot foods such as samgyetang and chueotang as a nourishing food to warm the inside of the cold body.

In the elderly with low kidney yang, it is necessary to actively supplement yang through nutritional supplements. Symptoms that may suggest a weakened kidney qi include ▲ cold body ▲ shortness of breath ▲ back and knee pain and tingling ▲ thinning arms and legs ▲ tinnitus symptoms ▲ ringing in the ears ▲ urinating at night often seen, etc.

Representative foods for a healthy summer include samgyetang, grilled eel, and chueotang. Samgyetang is the most popular health food and is rich in high-quality protein. In particular, the meat is thin and soft, and there is no fat mixed with the meat, so it has a light taste and is easily digested.

Mucin, abundant in chicken wings, promotes growth, enhances sexual and motor functions, and increases protein absorption. Ginseng served with samgyetang activates enzymes in the body to promote metabolism and accelerate recovery from fatigue. Chestnuts and jujubes protect the stomach and prevent anemia.

Eel is a representative high-protein food composed of protein with a high biological value that has essential amino acids. Vitamin A, 150 times the content of regular fish, has the effect of removing free radicals, protecting the eyes, preventing cancer, as well as maintaining growth and reproductive function. Eel is characterized by a high content of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA, DHA).

It has been found to be effective in preventing adult diseases, and to lower blood cholesterol levels as well as forming brain cells and nerve tissue. In addition, it is rich in minerals such as iron and calcium and is rich in various B vitamins to help digestion.

The main ingredient of Chueotang’s loach is high-quality protein. It is also rich in vitamin A, which is rare in other animal foods. It protects the skin strongly, increases the resistance of bacteria, and strengthens the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract.

The form of fat is unsaturated fatty acid, which helps to prevent adult diseases. The slimy loach mucus is the main component of mucin, which protects the gastrointestinal tract and improves digestion. Loach also contains a lot of calcium, and since chueotang is made with bones, it can increase calcium intake.

However, nutrition is not good for everyone. In the case of congenital weakness or old age, not only the yang of the kidneys is weakened, but also the digestive function is weakened.

Patients with adult diseases should also be careful. Due to overeating, drinking, lack of exercise, and stress, not only symptoms caused by lack of Qi, hyeol and yin in the body, but also symptoms due to excessive nutrient supply may appear. Typical examples include diseases such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, obesity, and fatty liver.

It is not limited to summer, and if fatigue continues, it may be difficult to recover stamina with nourishing food. Chronic fatigue syndrome may be suspected if symptoms of fatigue persist for more than 6 months despite the absence of other diseases and symptoms such as memory loss, poor concentration, muscle pain, joint pain, headache, and sleep disturbance occur together.

Professor Park Jae-woo of the Department of Oriental Medicine at Kyunghee Korean Medical Center in Gangdong said, “If fatigue continues for more than 6 months following summer, accurate diagnosis and treatment are necessary.”
