Helena Herman wins at home for the 34th edition of the Mimizan Triathlon

At 8:40 a.m., the start was given for the kids and the other young categories. About 190 young people were able to finish the race, a real discovery of the discipline. At 2:30 p.m., the team time trial was launched: 750 meters of swimming, 20 kilometers of cycling followed by 5 kilometers of running. 180 teams participated in this race (25 girls, 61 mixed and 94 boys). The women’s team of the Girondins de Bordeaux Triathlon (with the Mimizannaise Helena Herman) won the race in 1 h 12 min 52 s. Among the boys, the Girondins de Bordeaux also won in 58 min 37 sec and finally Tribue an Co in the mixed race.

Selective course

Sunday was reserved for the queen event with a very selective M course according to the triathletes, with this final loop on the beach.

Some 578 triathletes took part in the individual race and 37 relay teams competed for the final victory in front of a large crowd and in perfect weather. The Pau club wins the relay race. The public warmly applauded Stéphane Videau (handibike) and his partner at the finish line.

Despite the difficulty of the course, Oscar Hobson (Montpellier) achieved the best time of the M in 1 h 58 min 28 s. Among the women, she had announced that she wanted to perform, get on the podium or a top 5: Helena Herman (from Mimizan) did much better by winning the title in 2 h 22 min 32 s.

The Ligue de Nouvelle-Aquitaine, through its president, thanked all the athletes for their participation while acknowledging the difficulty of the final on the beach. The mayor of Mimizan, Frédéric Pomarez, who underlined the importance of the event for the town, also wanted “to pay tribute to Robert Crouzier”, the historic organizer of this event.
