Al Jazeera – Riyadh:
Amber Heard’s attorney, Eileen Bredehaft, says her client cannot afford to pay the $10 million in damages awarded in the lawsuit brought by her ex-husband, Johnny Depp.
Pridehaft argued that the social media posts “impacted” the jury in the lawsuit, arguing that “the jury might not escape the extreme and unbalanced social media frenzy.”
“How might you not?” she asked. They come home every night. They have families, and the families are on social media,” noting that “we had a 10-day break in the middle of the trial because of the judicial conference. There is no way they might not be affected.”
When asked if her client would be able to pay the $10 million in damages, Bredehoft replied: “No, not at all.”
It is reported that if Heard fails to pay the amount, the court may collect the amount it imposed on the actress from the wages she will receive for her upcoming artwork.
Another option for Heard is to declare her bankruptcy, which will most likely exempt her from paying the $8 million, but she will still have to pay the $350,000 in “punitive damages.”
The key to resolving Heard’s crisis remains in the hands of her ex-husband, Depp, who can waive the case and the amount of compensation, and Amber Heard’s fortune is estimated at $8 million in 2022.
