Vijayan Pillai cultivates gold in the desert; The ‘biological revolution’ is now coming to the US

Abu Dhabi: Celebrating the golden jubilee of the biological revolution in the desert, a Malayalee went to the United States for a new experiment. Vijayan Pillai, a native of Kollam, who wrote the success story of producing organic vegetables (natural farming) locally in the UAE, which relied solely on foreign vegetables, was sharing his experiences and new experiments with Manorama on World Environment Day.

Vijayan Pillai’s new experiments in agriculture were later followed by natives and foreigners. He was imparting free agricultural lessons to those who wanted to spread greenery in the desert. Those who love agriculture and want to study have become regular visitors to Vijayan Pillai’s garden. He is putting an end to 5 decades of service. He also announced that he would not be visiting the farm from tomorrow as he was bidding farewell to the UAE for the time being.

Hundreds of people used to visit Vijayan’s farm in Al Ain every day. School, college and university students and teachers came here as part of the study tour. Those who came to Green Farm were given not only agricultural knowledge but also hand-picked fruits and fruit tree saplings to those in need.

Vijayan Pillai is a success if his knowledge can help at least a few of the new generation to come to agriculture. He proved that it is profitable to cultivate naturally on an industrial scale. People from all over the world grew up in abundance at the farm school in Al Ain. When Vijayan Pillai’s experience was energized by the principle of more production through modern methods, the yield was a hundredfold.

He made his dream of 25 cents to 50 tons of vegetables a reality 10 years ago by planting 2000 flour and fruit tree seedlings per acre in Sudan and successfully passing the high density experiment. Now it is happy to cultivate what can be described as micro-density. He planted 10,000 cashews for 10 cents and completed the green revolution by flowering and ripening in the sixth month.

Hundreds of crops are harvested by preparing the soil with micro-organism rich cow dung and other waste materials. This method is also suitable for those who cultivate due to lack of land. He says he can cultivate everything he needs at home on the land. No imported seeds are required for this. He said that this method of cultivation can be done using the seeds available in the area.

The new mission is to experiment with cannabis cultivation in a plantation in California, USA, with the permission of the government. The goal is not to intoxicate, but to turn it into medicine that is beneficial to man. In the meantime, the experiment in the UAE will continue using the remote control system.
