A Lausanne collective of LGBTQIA+ activists is launching a Night Pride in the Vaudois capital. This will take to the streets on July 2 from 4:30 p.m. from the Milan park for a queer, feminist, anti-racist, environmentalist and anti-capitalist demonstration. The objective is to restore political content to the “prides”.
“Moving and multifaceted”, the Pride de Nuit collective wants to affirm “its desire to place itself at the crossroads of struggles”, he wrote in a press release on Thursday. He considers that campaigning once morest the police, once morest borders, for the rights of sex workers and for the inclusion of disabled people is essential and part of queer struggles. “It’s the best way to achieve what we’re aiming for: system change,” he says.
“With LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer, intersex, asexual and other marginalized gender identities and sexual orientations) people being particularly vulnerable in our time of social and ecological crisis, we are extremely well placed as queer activists to be part of the solution to the current crises and to offer a real alternative to our societies eaten away by capitalism”, writes the collective.
Queer manifesto
It is for the latter to propose a queer political thought, radical and able to respond to current challenges through a manifesto. This takes the step of thinking regarding the queer question from a broad and solidarity perspective.
“Improving everyone’s living conditions will de facto improve those of LGBTIQA+ people. It is obvious that we are experiencing very specific realities that need to be addressed, but we are also seeing that the world is dying and that it is urgent to act to stop the disaster”, underlines the Lausanne group.
Their manifesto lists a large number of demands on self-determination, precariousness, the world of work, health, internationalism and anti-imperialism.
