(Washington = Yonhap News) Correspondent Kim Kyung-hee = “Don’t get used to this war.”
Olena Zelenska, wife of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said in an interview with ABC on the 3rd (local time) regarding the tragic war that marked the 100th day of Russia’s invasion.
“Otherwise, we may end up in an undesirable, endless war,” he said. “Please don’t get used to our pain.”
Zelenska said the most difficult question to answer following the Russian invasion was when her 9-year-old son asked when the war would end.
“No Ukrainian will be able to answer this question,” Zelenska said.
“You can’t just give up part of your territory. It’s like giving up freedom,” he said. “Even if you give up your territory, the invaders will not stop. will,” he feared.
President Zelensky’s family is said to have not been able to even properly reunite with each other except to say hello over the phone following breaking up on the first day of the Russian invasion.
“We said goodbye on the first day, and following that we only talked on the phone,” Zelenska said.
“I realized I had to be strong, and I felt I had to be brave to support my husband,” he said.
He also mentioned the case of a nurse who took care of 27 newborns while guarding the facility until the maternity and gynecology department in Mariupol, where electricity and water were cut off, completely collapsed, and a 15-year-old girl who rescued four villagers with her legs injured in the bombing.
Referring to the fact that hundreds of children died in the ravages of war, Zelenska also pointed out the need for psychological treatment, saying, “We must help the people get through.”
He then expressed his gratitude for the continued support from all over the world and appealed, “I am looking forward to further support.”
When asked regarding the message to deliver to Russia, he strongly condemned the invasion, saying, “Every time we try to convey something, they say we have a different point of view.”
