On May 30, 2022, the 14th Party Congress of Shaanxi Province elected 44 representatives to the 20th Party Congress, and Xia Jiangbo, an outstanding disabled athlete in our province, was on the list, which fully reflects the provincial party committee and government’s commitment to 249 Wan Shaanxi disabled people and the cause of disabled people attach great importance to and kindly care.
Xia Jiangbo was born in Shiquan County, Ankang City, Shaanxi Province in September 1989. He was paraplegic from the waist down due to congenital polio. In June 2004, she was selected to train with the Shaanxi Provincial Disabled Swimming Team. After less than a year of hard training, she won the silver medal in the 50-meter freestyle competition in the Women’s Group B of the National Disabled Championship held in Xi’an. Since then, Xia Jiangbo has won 35 gold medals in various swimming competitions at home and abroad, including the London Paralympics, and has broken world records many times, winning honors for the motherland and adding brilliance to Shaanxi. In 2011, she became the “Sports Man of the Year Award Candidate for the Sportsmanship of the Year Disabled”. In 2012, she won the S3 100-meter freestyle championship at the London Paralympics and broke the world record. Also in 2012, Xia Jiangbo also successively won honors such as the National March 8th Red Banner Bearer, the National May 1st Labor Medal and the May Fourth Youth Medal. In September 2012, she was awarded the title of “Shaanxi Outstanding Athlete”. In March 2013, she was awarded the title of “Ten Heroes of the 10th Three Qin Dynasty”. In 2019, the Shaanxi disabled swimmer was rated as an outstanding student by the Paralympic champion class of Beijing Sports University, and served as the propaganda member of the party branch of the champion class. 2021 In 2008, Xia Jiangbo was named an outstanding member of the Communist Party of China in Shaanxi Province and became a glorious torchbearer of the 14th National Games.
Today, Xia Jiangbo, who has graduated from Beijing Sports University, has been elected as the representative of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China as an outstanding representative of the 2.49 million disabled people in our province. She said that she will definitely bring the new achievements of the development of the disabled in Shaanxi to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. At the grand event, we shared with representatives from all over the country, and made every effort to show the wonderful life of Shaanxi disabled people’s unremitting self-improvement and perseverance. At the same time, by sharing his advanced deeds, Xia Jiangbo hopes to play a leading and promoting role in the preparation of disabled athletes in our province for the Hangzhou Asian Paralympic Games and the National Paralympic Games in 2025.
