British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been booed as he arrives for the thanksgiving service in honor of the Queen’s Jubilee at St Paul’s Cathedral in London. The shouts of onlookers might be heard clearly as the prime minister walked up the steps of the cathedral with his wife Carrie Johnson on Friday morning. Johnson is under immense domestic political pressure because of the “Partygate” affair regarding lockdown parties in Downing Street.
The gestures of disapproval stood in stark contrast to the jubilation the head of state, Queen Elizabeth II, witnessed at her public appearances on Thursday to mark the 70th anniversary of her presidency. More and more MPs from his Conservative Party are also turning their backs on Johnson. An imminent vote of no confidence is considered possible.
