MUSIC – “Too good to be true”, and yet: Lomepal is back following almost three years of absence. Since Aminathe reissue of his last album Jeannine released in 2019, the rapper had completely disappeared from the musical radars. This Friday, June 3, he unveiled tee, probably the first extract of a line of titles present in his next album. Nevertheless, Lomepal has still not announced its release date.
This single was unexpected to say the least. Without warning his audience, the rapper was content to publish two stories the day before the release on his account. Instagram. We find an email from his producer and sound engineer (Alex Gopher), announcing the end of the mastering, as well as a 24-hour countdown launched before the release of the clip. These two implicit pieces of information will have been enough for Internet users to immediately understand his big comeback.

A progressive return to music
The clip of the piece directed by Victor Boccard, echoes the words of the title, illustrating almost literally what Lomepal reveals in its lines.
In the piece, he makes several allusions to the golf: starting with the word “tee”, which corresponds to the small peg on which players place the ball at the start of a hole. On the cover of the single, a person holds this small object in the mouth. He also mentions the 7 iron, a particular type of club used by high level players.
These sporting references feed a chorus in which Lomepal describes himself as determined but still just as neurotic. “Tell my destiny to bite the tee / I’m going to give him a 7 iron face (…) I look so much like this world, I have the neuroses to match / Want to plant a few tomatoes and do sound without a computer”, can we hear him pronounce in the piece.
The return of Lomepal is done gradually, step by step while waiting for the release of the album. Last May, the rapper announced a small tour, consisting of six dates in ancient theaters in France, starting with Vaison-la-Romaine on July 7.
The rapper had stepped back from 2020: ″After a while, when you play the same songs too many times, the pressure it puts on, there is something that I might no longer bear (.. .) I haven’t had time at all to settle down in ten years of music”, he explained at the microphone of France Inter in September 2021. He also explained that the appearance of the Covid had it “ relieved”, saving him from having to participate in festivals the following summer.
