Batmaid abandons its laundry service and lays off 50 people – rts.ch

The cleaning company Batmaid is to lay off around 50 employees as part of a restructuring induced by the closure of its laundry service, launched with great fanfare only four months ago.

“We now want to refocus on our core business, namely Batmaid, whose 4,000 or so cleaners are not affected,” a spokeswoman for the Lausanne group told Le Temps on Friday.

To explain the disappointment of Batmaid Dry, the Romand daily evokes problems of logistics, production, staff but also the rise in the price of raw materials. “As an entrepreneur, it was very difficult for me to make this decision and to have to lay off employees who followed me on this project”, assures the founder of Batmaid, Andreas Schollin-Borg.

Readjustment of priorities

The company, which had raised 25 million francs last autumn in order to “establish itself as a leading player on the European and global market”, therefore sees itself stopped in its tracks in its expansionist ambitions.

“Batgroup has grown a lot and needed resources to support this growth,” said the communicator, insisting on the need to “readjust priorities and adapt the organization to gain efficiency and stability.”
