The surprising identity of former boxer Hong Soo-hwan, who was the WBA (World Boxing Association) world champion in two weight divisions (Junior Feather and Bantam), has been revealed as the most unforgettable official.
Hong recently appeared on the YouTube channel ‘Boda’ and talked regarding his life and boxing.
When asked regarding the most memorable official, Hong said, “(a student) came to our gym.
He said, “So I asked, ‘Where did you learn boxing?’ and he said no. After that, he came out for a week and suddenly he didn’t come out, so I went to the address on the official registration list.”
Hong said, “I went into the house and drank the tea my mother gave me. And when I asked, ‘Your son is good at sports, but he doesn’t come out these days,’ he called him directly.”
He said, “I asked that friend, ‘Why aren’t you going to the gym?’ and he said, ‘I have to study.’ I was absurd, but my mother kept smiling next to me. He said,” he explained.
He added, “When it comes to lynx, isn’t it the best fighting in Korea? Even if he inherited lynx blood and is good at fighting, learning boxing himself was difficult.”
Lee Seong-soon is a legend in the Korean fist world who was active from the Japanese colonial period to the First Republic period. Unlike Kim Doo-han and others who were active at the same time, he had no criminal record and did not set up an organization. Because of this, the image of a savage who enjoys fighting or a scoundrel with a strong sense of camaraderie is strong.
