About fifteen people came for the hearing, including three of the four mothers of Pascal Martel’s children, all born the same year.

“He’s a monster,” said one of them, Chantale, who was in a relationship with the accused for six years.

When she left the courtroom, in tears, she found the strength to list the abuse that Pascal Martel would have caused her to experience.

“Rape us, lock us up, put up bars to make sure we can’t escape, try to strangle us with telephone wires, beat us, leave us for dead, and laugh at the rest of us,” he said. she recounted.

Embracing each other, the three women decided to tell their story to the media in the hope of helping others.

The 48-year-old man is charged with insulting a corpse. Last Thursday, following several hours of searching, the police found a body buried in the backyard of his residence on rue Mgr Courchesne, in Nicolet. His arrest brought back painful memories for his surviving victims.

“I had to rebuild myself, make a life for myself. My parents took me home with police protection because they knew that if he found me, I wouldn’t be alive today,” Chantale continued.

Over the years, they claim to have tried on several occasions to recover their children, but also to denounce the attacks of which they would have been victims.

As for Carmen, another spouse of Pascal Martel, she claimed not to have been taken seriously. “We weren’t listened to. We were just liars. Monsieur put everyone to sleep. We literally experienced Stockholm syndrome, ”she said.

Twenty years later, Nathalie still does not understand how he managed to have custody of the four children. “I had a stable life, I had a job, but I was never able to get my daughter back,” she lamented.

If it is true that hardships make you stronger, these women have now sworn that never once more will Pascal Martel have a hold on them. Knowing that Pascal Martel knew them in the room gives them courage. “Look, you scare us more, it’s over,” replied Chantale, her voice full of resilience.
