(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Shin Jae-woo = Following the U.S., the U.K. has agreed to support Ukraine with a medium-range rocket system with a range of 80 km.

Sweden, which recently applied for membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), also announced plans to support weapons, including anti-ship missiles.

According to CNN and Archyde.com, the British Foreign Ministry issued a statement on the 1st (local time) and announced plans to support Ukraine with the M270 launcher, a multiple rocket launcher (MLRS). There will be,” he said.

The decision was made in close consultation with the U.S. to send the High-speed Mobile Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), a variant of the MLRS, to Ukraine, the Foreign Ministry explained.

HIMARS is also a system that can be launched with a medium-range guided multiple rocket system (GMLRS) with a range of up to 80 km.

British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said:

“If Russia’s tactics change, our support must also change,” he said.

The British government explained that the Ukrainian army would learn how to use the launch pad in Britain to maximize the effectiveness of its use of weapons.

Sweden announced that it would spend 1 billion kronor (regarding 127.7 billion won) in this support.

Sweden previously announced that it would send 5,000 anti-tank weapons, helmets and body armor in February, and announced that it would send an additional 5,000 anti-tank weapons in March.
