Did M6 broadcast a fake hidden camera in its program “Arnaques”? – Liberation

The host of the show, Julien Courbet, explains that an editing error is at the origin of a sequence supposed to be filmed with a hidden camera but on which we clearly distinguish the shadow of the film crew.

Several images shared on social networks (largely accompanied by mockery), suggest that the M6 television channel would have broadcast a fake hidden camera in its program Scams. The proof of the supposed bogus? While the mention “hidden camera” appears in a corner of the screen, we can see the shadow of the cameraman and the soundman. “A big mouthful”ironically for example a user.

These images were broadcast on the May 28 broadcast. They appear in the replay available on the M6 website from 50 minutes and 43 seconds. In this sequence, the journalists actually seem to first film a real estate developer and his wife with a hidden camera. We see some filmed shots (of very poor quality) with a camera visibly hidden in a bag. Other images follow (from which the screenshot circulating on the networks is extracted), of much better quality, produced by a classic film crew, while the journalists also decline their identity. The mention “hidden camera” nevertheless remains embedded on the screen, while we can therefore clearly see the shadow of the sound recording pole.

Joined by CheckNews, the host of the show Julien Courbet regrets a simple editing error. He explains that during filming, “We first made a hidden camera. Then when we explained to the gentleman that we were journalists, he told us that he had nothing to hide. We asked him if he was ready to speak on camera. He said yes but on the condition of blurring his face. So we redid the interview on camera. While editing the show, “For five seconds at the beginning, we are on hidden camera. We have to note it. Then [les monteurs] forgot to take it off, indicates Julien Courbet, who thus confirms that the images of the interview are those filmed by the fixed camera.
