Kochi: Actor Dileep has sharply criticized the prosecution in the case of attacking the actress. Dileep’s lawyer alleged in court that the prosecution’s move was to insult the judiciary in connection with the change in the hash value of the memory card. Dileep also demanded that the probe into the case not be extended even for a single day. Dileep objected to a petition filed by the Crime Branch seeking three more months for further investigation.
Dileep asked what was wrong with the memory card if the court checked it. The court has the right to examine the footage as part of the case. Dileep’s lawyer argued that the vigilance section of the High Court alone has the right to look into any irregularities in the proceedings of the court.
The Crime Branch does not have to check the memory card. Defendant also asked what power the Crime Branch has to ask the court to examine the memory card in custody in connection with the case. Dileep’s lawyer also asked if the investigation team would know if the hash value of the memory card had changed.
The government, however, told the court that it had not made any move to insult the court and had only pointed out certain facts and asked it to be examined as part of the investigation.
Dileep told the court that the crime branch’s allegation that he was in possession of the footage of the attack on the actress was false. The actor also opposed the need for more time to examine digital evidence. The crime branch received the results of the forensic examination related to the case three months ago. Therefore, Dileep told the court that the forensic examination should not be extended any longer and this would affect the trial of the case.
