In the Vaudois Pays-d’Enhaut, the La Folia Festival has been welcoming the fine flower of baroque and early music since 2001. Its next edition takes place from June 1 to 6 at the Church of Rougemont and the Temple of Château-d’Œx and offers eight concerts.
Enthusiasts and enthusiasts, ideal acoustics in a little jewel of Romanesque art built in the 11th century by the monks of Cluny: in Rougemont, the 22nd La Folia Festival welcomes lovers of early and baroque music until June 6. On the bill this year, eight concerts and as many enticing programs. We note in particular the presence of the Capella Mediterranea, the Jupiter Ensemble or the young shoots of the Curious Bards, who offer to walk cheerfully through collections of tunes interpreted by itinerant musicians of the 17th and 18th centuries in Ireland and Scotland. .
The youth together in majesty
What is the recipe for programming an edition of the festival? “We have several boxes to tick, explains to the RTS Capucine Keller, artistic director of the festival. Always have Swiss ensembles, offer young formations to discover new things, offer equality between instrumental and vocal music as well as a wide variety music. It’s very important to give young ensembles a chance because they are people whose journey we want to follow. It’s an honor to be able to receive them, often in preview.”
Two major originalities will be held this year: the festival begins this Wednesday, June 1, a day earlier than usual, with a major charity concert for the benefit of the Festival “Au Pays des Enfants”, and a day “outside the walls” will take place at the Temple of Château-d’Œx on Saturday 4 June with two concerts.
