When assembling a gaming computer or upgrading, you must be wondering how much RAM you need? For those who don’t have a budget to go online, of course, the bigger the better, but if you have budget constraints and want to spend the most worthwhile memory, you can actually choose 16GB of memory first. Recently, foreign YouTube channels have tested the latest and most popular. There are 7 games in the game, running games alone and running other applications at the same time. The results show that the performance of 16GB is similar to that of 32GB and 64GB.
How much RAM memory is needed to play PC games in 2022?
Earlier, the foreign YouTube channel Testing Games uploaded a video “How Much RAM Do You Need for Gaming in 2022? (How much memory do you need to play games in 2022?)”, the same test platform, only replaced three kinds of RAM memory The capacity is 16GB, 32GB and 64GB respectively, and the game picture quality is 2160p.
testing platform:
- Windows 10 Pro operating system
- MSI MPG Z690 Force Motherboard
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 24GB Graphics Card
There are a total of 7 test games, “Dying Light 2: The Battle of Humanity”, “Electric Rebel 2077”, “Assassin Mission 3”, “Forza Horizon 5”, “God of War”, “Microsoft Flight Simulator” with Minecraft. The test content is divided into two parts, the first is “running the game alone”, and the second is “game + application”, the application is opened and executed in the background, such as Photoshop, Chrome and so on.
The first is “The Battle of Dying Light 2 People and Benevolence”. It can be seen that the performance of the three memory capacities is almost the same, the average FPS is 79, and the difference is only a decimal point:
After the game + application, this one can be said to be the most obvious feeling among them, the average FPS of 16GB drops to 53.5 FPS, 32GB is 70.1 FPS, and 64GB is 78.2 FPS:
In the test of “Electric Rebel 2077”, the average FPS of the three memory capacities is 41, and the difference is only a decimal point:
After adding the application, although the 16GB has dropped, it has only dropped a little to an average of 39.8 FPS, and both the 32GB and 64GB memory still have regarding 42 FPS:
“Assassin Mission 3” is not surprising, the average FPS is 108:
After adding the app, the difference is not too big, with an average FPS of 104.9 for 16GB, 107.9 FPS for 32GB, and 108.1 FPS for 64GB:
In Forza Horizon 5, all 3 memory capacities average 88 FPS:
Running apps in the background doesn’t matter, 16GB has 85.2 FPS, which is very close to 64GB’s 86.4 FPS:
The average FPS performance of God of War, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB all have above 68 FPS:
Running the app in the background has no effect, and even the average FPS goes up to 70:
I have no screenshots for the remaining two games, just watch the full video below. It can be seen that if your budget is really not enough and you don’t have much work and multitasking needs, you can choose 16GB or 32GB first, and use the extra money to buy a better graphics card.
