During the past two years, the audience knew the young artist, Amr Al-Masry, as a lyricist; As he presented works to a number of singers, most notably “Ibbe Meet Me” byFadel Shaker“It’s Now” by Adham Nabulsi, “Akhbara A” by Rabeh Saqr, and “Heita Sed” byAsala Nasriand “Beauty has its people” byNawal al-zughbyAnd “Hasmat Al-Num” by Sherine Abdel Wahab, and “Not forbidden” by Medhat Saleh. The audience is waiting for a new collaboration for him, next summer, with Fadel Shaker, Tamer Hosni and Ramy Gamal.
In addition, the artist has an experience in rap singing, and here he is renewing it in an album of 12 songs, which he will release solo, at a rate of one song every three weeks, which he started with a newly released song entitled “In Eur”.
In an interview with Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, Al-Masry said regarding his return to rap following a 12-year hiatus: “For a long time I have been performing rap. Over the past years, I have followed the development of this musical form. Currently, I am trying to present a different form from the familiar and the known.” .
Al-Masry does not hide that his success as a lyricist gave him the courage to present himself as a rapper, and he received support from fellow artists and musicians, but he added, “I am not in a hurry to convey the ideas that I intend to present. My own singing style, especially that technological development, which accompanies the surge of social networking sites, facilitates the communication and spread of new musical ideas among people.”
Al-Masry does not deny that he is taking a great adventure in what he presents, but he does not agree with the opinion that if he fails as a rapper, it will negatively affect his fame as a songwriter: And Amr is a rapper.

Al-Masry justifies not choosing to present his voice to the audience in the romantic lyrical color, by saying: “There are lyrical voices more important and more beautiful than mine, and they have their own way of singing, and their owners have priority in this field. But my ambitions and tendencies are towards rap.”
In another context, we ask Al-Masry regarding his opinion on the retirement of the artist, Aham Nabulsi. He points out that Nabulsi had the intention of making the decision a long time ago, adding: “He chose the path that he found suitable for his personality and circumstances, and I respect his decision and wish him success.”
On his artistic partnership with the composer Amr El-Shazly, Al-Masry explains that his relationship with El-Shazly goes beyond the concept of work. They have a human relationship and friendship, indicating that their success comes due to the harmony between them in the ideas and artistic vision of what they offer.
We also asked the Egyptian regarding his opinion on Festival songs, especially as it raises a technical and legal controversy in recent times. In this context, he says that this type of singing is very successful, and has a large audience. However, Al-Masry expresses his reservations regarding two issues, the first is regarding using some words that he finds offensive, and the second is regarding stealing some tunes and turning them into “festival” songs. He says, “If we listen to the works presented by the mahraganat singers, we will find that most of them are beautiful works that have a loud impact and a color that is preferred by a large segment of the audience.” Al-Masry points out that he will present in his album a song that represents a mixture of “festivals” and rap songs
