The International Energy Agency warns: The energy crisis is ‘much bigger’ than the oil shock of the 1970s

The head of the International Energy Agency, Fatih Birol, told the German news site Spiegel that Europe may face a shortage of fuel this summer due to the lack of fuel. oil markets.

“When the main holiday season begins in Europe and the United States, the demand for fuel will rise. And then we can see shortages: for example in diesel, gasoline or kerosene, especially in Europe,” Birol was quoted as saying.

According to the report, Birol also warned that the current energy crisis is “much larger” than the oil shocks of the 1970s, and that it will also last longer.

He said, “At that time it was only regarding oil… Now we have an oil and gas crisis and an electricity crisis at the same time.”
