Robert Lewandowski is increasingly pushing for a move to FC Barcelona and seems willing to force a transfer in the summer. As it has now become known, the Catalans can’t sign the FIFA World Player at all at the moment as the club has to fulfill certain requirements first.
Barcelona has accumulated a debt of almost 1.3 billion euros in recent years, and yet the Catalans are very active on the transfer market. Barça would also like to strengthen its squad in the summer. The number one transfer target is FCB striker Robert Lewandowski.
According to consistent media reports, Barcelona have already made an offer of almost 37 million euros for the top scorer. Curiously, the club cannot sign the Pole at all at the moment.
Barça must first sell players or assets
In the past few days, numerous reports have been circulating in Spain that Barcelona are on the brink of ( once more) financial collapse. The association is absolutely dependent on new sources of income in order to remain able to act.
La Liga boss Javier Tebas has commented on the current situation at FC Barcelona and also addressed the ongoing rumors regarding a possible transfer from Robert Lewandowski. The 59-year-old made it clear that a change is currently unimaginable: “Barcelona cannot sign Lewandowski at the moment. They know their financial situation and the rules of the league. I don’t know if they’re going to sell Frenkie or Pedri, but they know they have to sell players or certain assets,” he told Europa Press.
According to reports, Barcelona have already agreed on a 3-year contract with Lewandowski. However, Bayern continue to refuse to give the Polish international a release and insist on staying until the end of his contract term in the summer of 2023.
