Mexico reports growing trend of coronavirus infections

The Health Secretary reported that from May 22 to 28, “an increasing trend was observed in the number of cases of coronavirus Estimates of the last few weeks.

In the same period of time, 89 deaths were recorded; therefore, the total number of deaths throughout the pandemic amounted to 324,854, the average being less than one death per day, the federal agency reported.

He added that 62% of deaths occurred in men and the average age was 64 years.

The national hospital occupancy in general beds remained at 2% and in intensive care beds at 1%.

Active cases, which are people positive to coronavirus that presented symptoms in the last 14 days increased to 14 thousand 581 and adding those that are yet to be confirmed, would give a total of 15 thousand 685 estimated active cases.

The people who have recovered from the contagion are 5 million 060 thousand 338.

VACCINATION AGAINST COVID-19

To date, 88 million 047 thousand 653 people over 12 years of age have been vaccinated -with at least one dose-, which is equivalent to 86% of the total of this population group.

Regarding those over 18 years of age, 91% have been immunized, which is equivalent to 81 million 080 thousand 071.

specifically to the vaccination of young people – from 12 to 17 years old -, of a total of 13 million 331 thousand 565, have also been vaccinated – with at least one dose – 52%.

So far, the number of people over 18 years of age who have received the booster dose once morest covid-19 amounted to 53 million 063 thousand 583, which is equivalent to 66% coverage.

Since December 24, 2020, 208,630,697 coronavirus vaccines have been applied, the federal agency reported.
