‘The people’s power is concentrated in the metropolitan area and Chungcheong, and the Democratic Party of Korea is concentrated in Gyeyang-eul, Incheon.’

As a result of investigating the regions where the leaders of each party were simultaneously scrambled from the 19th to the 30th, when the official campaign for the June 1st local election began, the conclusion was as follows. The movement of the party leadership during the election period, such as the party leader, emergency response chairperson, and floor leader, is the core of the party’s election strategy. As a result of the analysis, the power of the people worked hard to attack areas in close combat, such as the metropolitan area and Chungcheong area, and the Democratic Party concentrated its efforts on gathering supporters mainly in Gyeyang-eul, Incheon, where Lee Jae-myung, general election committee chairperson, ran. Instead, Yeongnam and Honam, where both the opposition and the ruling party are vegetable gardens, were relatively rare as the crowding phenomenon intensified early in this election.

○ Concentrated on attacking the metropolitan area and Chungcheong battlefield

After the start of the official election campaign, the People’s Power held a meeting of the on-site Election Countermeasures Committee, going back and forth between the metropolitan areas such as Gyeonggi and Incheon and Chungcheong. Out of a total of 7 field appointment committee meetings up to the 30th, they were held twice each in Incheon, Gyeonggi, and Chungcheong, and once in Gangwon. It is a strategy where the party leadership mobilizes to catch the attention of the voters and launch candidates in the area. In addition, the power of the people has selected regions that can target not only local elections but also votes for the by-elections for the National Assembly members. The first on-site election committee held on the 19th in Incheon, where Chairman Lee was running, and focused on praising Candidates Yoon Hyung-sun and Yoo Jeong-bok, who are fighting once morest Chairman Lee. In addition, Gangwon and Chungnam, where on-site election committees were held, are also regions where Candidates Park Jeong-ha (Gangwon Won Ju-gap) and Jang Dong-hyuk (Chungnam Boryeong-Seocheon) are running in the by-elections.

In particular, the power of the people actively emphasized the so-called ‘yun heart’, which means the will of President Yun Seok-yeol. At the election committee meeting held in Daejeon on the 30th, floor leader Kwon Seong-dong said, “President Yoon has great affection for and trust in Lee Jang-woo, who has been at the forefront of ‘making President Yoon Seok-yeol’ since the early days of the primary campaign.” Earlier, floor leader Kwon emphasized that Gyeonggi Governor Kim Eun-hye and Chungcheongnam-do Governor Kim Tae-heum were candidates with a ‘yun-sim’.

In addition, the leadership of the People’s Power at the end of the election is increasingly going to Jeju. The intention is to seize the victory of the Jeju provincial governor and Jeju by-elections through an offensive aimed at the controversy over Chairman Lee’s ‘relocation of Gimpo Airport’. On the 30th, Kim Ki-hyeon, chairman of the Joint Election Commission, visited Jeju, and Lee Jun-seok, who held a press conference at Jeju Airport on the 28th, is scheduled to visit Jeju on the 31st.

○ ‘Lee Jae-myung shooter’ all-out war

The Democratic Party actually started and ended the official election campaign period in Gyeyang-eul, where Chairman Lee ran for office. On the 19th, the day the official election campaign began, the Democratic Party held a ceremony in Gyeyang, with the leadership including Yoon Ho-jung, chairman of emergency response committee, Park Ji-hyun, and floor leader Park Hong-geun.

The Democratic Party leadership then assembled once once more at a memorial service for former President Roh Moo-hyun held at Bonghama Village in Gimhae, Gyeongnam on the 23rd. They attacked Chungcheong, a battlefield, and aimed to gather supporters through memorial services attended by former President Moon Jae-in.

Next, the Democratic Party put an end to the ‘energy of Lee Jae-myung’, such as having a press conference with Chairman Lee and the two non-commissioned leaders in Gyeyang, Incheon on the 30th. It is interpreted as reflecting a sense of crisis that “even Chairman Lee might be defeated by any chance” in a situation where the situation was unusually active following the start of the official election campaign. Chairman Lee, who was initially expected to travel throughout the region to support the national election, has also compressed his activities around Incheon when the polls at the end of the election turned out to be a close battle. Chairman Lee plans to ‘bet everything’ on the Incheon regional election campaign on the 31st, the last day of his official election campaign.

In addition, the Democratic Party focused on a schedule of ‘breaking each other’ rather than a schedule in which the leadership moves side by side. After the ceremony on the 19th, Chairman Yoon and Chairman Park dispersed to Gyeonggi-do, Daegu and Gyeongbuk, and held a campaign. However, during the official election campaign, Chairman Park’s ’86 (student in 80s, born in the 60s) group resignation’ arose, and the joint campaign schedule of the two chairpersons was canceled.

However, the two, who held hands with Chairman Lee on this day, are considering a plan to hold a joint campaign once once more, starting with the election committee meeting on the 31st, the last day of the official election campaign. An official from the Democratic Party said, “The level is to provide an opportunity for a reversal through dramatic intra-party harmony at the end of the election.”
