The Zurich champion coach has been gone for a week – André Breitenreiter (48) left FCZ for the Bundesliga last Tuesday, and the deal with Hoffenheim was finalized last week.
But there is still a lot of haggling going on between Hoffenheim and Zurich! The reason? Not Breitenreiter, who, according to Blick information, was only able to leave for around 150,000 euros thanks to a Bundesliga exit clause in his contract. But it’s regarding two men from his previous FCZ staff that Breitenreiter would like to take with him.
The problem with FCZ assistant coach Darius Scholtysik (55) and video analyst Fabian Sander (35): They have no opt-out clause in the contracts. The duo must be bought out by TSG, just like with players, with a transfer fee.
FCZ has the upper hand
And that’s where the master club shows itself to be a tough negotiating partner, according to “Kicker”. For the assistant duo in the package, Zurich is apparently demanding over half a million euros.
Zurich is likely to have the upper hand here. Because Hoffenheim will try to fulfill his new head coach’s staff wishes, even if they cost a lot of money.
More regarding Swiss football
It is obvious that Scholtysik and Sander are also interested in the Bundesliga. Like Breitenreiter, both are German. Scholtysik came to Switzerland a year ago as part of the Breitenreiter commitment and was previously an assistant coach in Duisburg, Wolfsburg and in the Wolfsburg second team.
Sander is the son of the former Bundesliga coach at Energie Cottbus, Petrik Sander (61). He has been in Zurich since 2017, so he has also worked for Uli Forte, Ludovic Magnin and Massimo Rizzo.
