Red Sox beat Orioles 12-2; Boston hits 5 home runs

Bobby Dalbec hit a two-run homer — one of the team’s season-high five homers in a single game — and the Boston Red Sox beat the Baltimore Orioles 12-2 on Sunday.

Rafael Devers, Kiké Hernández, Franchy Cordero and Christian Arroyo hit solo shots for the Red Sox, who won their ninth in 12 games.

Boston hit all five of his homers in four innings off Bruce Zimmermann (2-3). The pitcher had allowed in his previous start, Tuesday at Yankee Stadium, his previous high of four home runs.

The shouts “Come on, Celtics!” they echoed frequently in Fenway Park and grew more raucous when Boston had five runs in the eighth inning.

Hours later, the Celtics would play the Miami Heat in Game 7 of the NBA Eastern Conference final.

Jake Pivetta (4-4) gave up one run on five hits in six innings. He expanded to 4-0 with a 1.59 ERA in his last five starts.

For the Red Sox, Puerto Ricans Enrique Hernández 5-1, one run scored, one RBI, and Christian Vázquez 3-2, one run scored, one RBI. Dominicans Rafael Devers 4-1, two runs scored, one RBI, and Franchy Cordero 4-2, two runs scored, three RBIs.

For the Orioles, the Venezuelans Anthony Santander 3-0; Rougned Odor 3-0 and Robinson Chirinos 3-0. The Mexican Ramón Urías 4-0. Dominican Jorge Mateo 4-2.
