Venezuela.- They ask for between 42 and 57 years in prison for those accused of recruiting Venezuelans to practice prostitution in La Roda

ALBACETE, 29 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Second Section of the Provincial Court of Albacete will judge next Wednesday, June 1, DMVL, DJVL and AIMP for the alleged crimes of trafficking in human beings for the purpose of sexual exploitation, coercive prostitution and possession of false currency, following capturing five Venezuelan women with the false promise of obtaining large profits from the practice of prostitution in Spain, later being housed in a house in La Roda to practice prostitution in abusive conditions and maintaining an arbitrary debt with the accused. For these facts, the Prosecutor’s Office asks for sentences of between 42 and 57 and a half years in prison.

According to the indictment, to which Europa Press has had access, the accused DMVL and DJVL, who were a couple, dedicated themselves since the end of 2018, with the aim of obtaining an illicit economic benefit, with other people residing in Venezuela who did not have been located to capture women from that country taking advantage of their precarious situation with the false promise of obtaining great economic benefits in the exercise of prostitution in Spain, assuring that these benefits would allow them to return without difficulty the money advanced by them and offering them the means to come to the country, such as plane tickets, hotel reservations and, in some cases, cash, which was withdrawn upon arrival in Spain.

The young women, all of them of legal age, who were recruited accessed the attractive offer raised by not knowing the true and abusive conditions that would be imposed on them in the exercise of prostitution once they arrived in Spain, consisting of full time availability during all days of the week, with an arbitrary debt that the defendants continuously increased for different concepts, subject to total control by the defendants.

In addition, the documentation was withdrawn from most of them and they were forced to hand over to the defendants all the money they obtained from said activity, according to the rates that the defendants agreed directly with the clients for said services, the victims being intimidated into causing them damage to them or their families in their country of origin if they did not act in accordance with said demands, for which the victims were forced to accept said conditions when they found themselves in Spain alone, without money, without work and fearing the reprisals announced by the accused .

When the victims arrived in Spain, they were housed by the defendants, for the most part, in a house in La Roda intended for the sole purpose of the prostitution of others and in which AIMP, mother of DJMP, also lived, who acted as the person in charge of the house and the girls, taking care of controlling the victims by writing down the sexual services they provided, as well as the money that the girls obtained for each service, which they almost always delivered in full to AIMP or even collected directly from the clients.

Due to these facts, the Prosecutor’s Office requests for DMVL a sentence of 57 and a half years in prison for five alleged crimes of trafficking in human beings for the purpose of sexual exploitation and coercive prostitution, as well as another of possession of false currency; 52 and a half years for DJVL for five alleged crimes of trafficking in human beings for the purpose of sexual exploitation, coercive prostitution and possession of counterfeit currency; and 42 years for AIMP for four alleged crimes of trafficking in human beings for the purpose of sexual exploitation, coercive prostitution and possession of counterfeit currency.
