Microsoft Build 2022: the 5 announcements to remember

Silicon offers you a selection of the key new features to remember from Microsoft Build 2022, a conference dedicated to developers.

Like every year, the Build conference allows Microsoft to present its new tools, projects and updates to its community of developers.

And there is no shortage of innovations this year, with new products and solutions for Windows, Azure, Power Platform and Microsoft 365.

Microsoft Teams has had its share of new features, and one of them might particularly catch your attention. The collaborative platform, which has more than 270 million monthly active users and has won over the general public, notably hosts Live Share.

This new tool will allow participants of a Teams meeting to interact (by annotating, modifying, zooming in on content, etc.) with some 1,400 shared applications, thus going beyond passive screen sharing to make meetings more immersive, engaging and participatory.

Developers are not left out as they will be able to use new Teams SDK preview extensions to extend existing Teams apps and create new live sharing experiences in meetings.

Live Share will be built on the power of the Fluid Framework collection of open-source JavaScript libraries, which underpin Live Share’s real-time collaboration capabilities.

A second feature stems directly from the interoperability of Microsoft Azure services with Teams: the typical application generatorAzure Communication Sevices. It allows devs to build, customize, and then deploy a typical virtual dating app in just minutes and with no coding required.

Microsoft used the Microsoft Build conference to make low-code “faster, easier to use, and more innovative” for all developers.

This evolution is symbolized by the series of applications Power Platformwhich allows you to develop and analyze data, create virtual agents or even create solutions or automate processes.

Power Pagesthe development and hosting tool low-codeis one of the new additions to the Power Platform application range, in that it helps to create, configure and publish professional websites with very little code, an approach that tends to make users “Citizen Developers”, such as the wants the expression.

On the Windows 11 side, Microsoft has announced a new feature that will restore applications from the Microsoft Store to the OS when the user changes PC. Users will therefore no longer have to manually reinstall each application from their previous computer.

Finally, the Azure cloud service also benefits from new announcements, symbolized by the launch of Microsoft Dev Boxwhich will offer workstations directly hosted in the cloud, which only have advantages, whether in code, installation and configuration.
