When Liverpool meet Real Madrid, Spain, tomorrow, Saturday, in the final match of the Champions League in the French capital, Paris, this will be the first time in the history of the tournament, that the same two teams meet in the final three times.

In 1980/1981, Liverpool beat Real Madrid 1-0 in a final, while Liverpool beat Real Madrid 1-0 in Madrid and then 4/0 in Liverpool in 2008/2009 in the round of 16.
In the 2014/2015 group stage, Real beat Liverpool in their own home 3-0 and then 1-0 in Madrid, while the 2017/2018 final saw Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3/1.
In the quarter-finals of the 2020/21 season, Real won 3/1 at home, and the two teams tied 0-0 in the second leg of Liverpool.
