Writer and film director Raneem Al Mohandes praised the efforts of the Film Authority in enabling specialists to participate in the Cannes Film Festival, stressing that this constitutes support for national competencies, increases contact with global experiences, and exchanges technical knowledge.
The engineer pointed out that the Film Authority represents real support for young people interested in the film field, and said: “I personally benefited from the Authority’s programs, as I went to the advanced filmmaking course at the British Film Institute in London in 2019”.
She pointed out that the solidarity of cultural institutions raises the ambition to reach global forums such as the Cannes Film Festival, by supporting and stimulating the film industry and enriching Saudi experiences to represent the Kingdom through international participation.
She added, “My participation in the Cannes Film Festival is limited to the movie “Swing”, which I directed with my sister, Dana Al-Mohandes, and it is a short musical genre, and it is undoubtedly a participation that adds a lot to my experience.”
Considering its presence in this global carnival useful in several ways, most notably obtaining opinions and criticism of experts, searching for greater opportunities, as well as communicating with specialists with different experiences and cultures.
