The National Migration Service concluded the summary investigation and the opening of an administrative summary was dismissed in the case that arose as a result of the delivery of erroneous information to the Minister of the Interior, Izkia Siches, regarding an alleged flight with foreigners expelled from the country and that was later returned to Chile with all the passengers. For these statements, the Secretary of State had to apologize and Migration decided to initiate an investigation.
After the Minister of the Interior and Public Security, Izkia Siches, denounced that during the previous government a plane with expelled foreigners from the country was returned to Chile with all the passengers and then apologized following confirming that it was erroneous information, they began to investigate where that information came from.
This episode earned the Secretary of State harsh criticism, who had been in the portfolio for less than a month.
After this, the National Migration Service requested the opening of a summary investigation to determine possible responsibilities in the face of the erroneous information received by the Minister of the Interior.
“In the framework of the transfer procedure of the National Migration Service, in a meeting held on March 25, the deputy director of the former Director of the Service, informed in a meeting at the Ministry of the Interior that Venezuelan citizens had embarked and traveled to Venezuela, not having been admitted to that country and returning to Chile,” the Migration Service specified at the time.
To this they added that “this erroneous information was transmitted by the Minister of the Interior and Public Security to the Citizen Security Commission of the Honorable Chamber of Deputies of Chile“.
Investigation of the National Migration Service on “ghost flight”
The investigation investigated the responsibility of the director(s), Carmen Gloria Daneri, a career official in that service.
It is worth mentioning that Daneri arrived at Immigration and Migration in 1996 in the Government of former President Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle, accumulating 26 years of experience in public service.

The director of the National Migration Service, Luis Eduardo Thayer, told Third that the investigation “was resolved approximately a week ago,” adding that the official “has already been notified.”
Thayer explained that “it was a summary investigation and the conclusion is that there is not enough background to open an administrative investigation, but there was an infraction of the official’s work and the sanction is censorship.”
In relation to the investigation that was carried out, the director stressed that “it was not necessary to open an administrative investigation. was dismissed and resolved a censorship due to a sloppiness in the handling and delivery of information.”
According to the above, the official continues in the same position in which she was, being in charge of international affairs.
