Senegalese President Macky Sall has decreed a three-day national mourning, starting this Thursday, following the tragedy that occurred at the Abdelaziz Sy Dabakh hospital in Tivaouane (west) where 11 newborn babies died on Wednesday. in a fire.

According to a statement read on National Television (RTS), the flags will remain at half mast during this period.

Macky Sall, current president of the African Union, will attend the opening of the extraordinary summit of the continental organization in Malabo (Equatorial Guinea), but he will then cut short his stay to return to Senegal, according to the local press.

He is expected in Dakar on Saturday, before going to Tivaouane to meet religious there and the families of the victims of the fire at the Abdelaziz Sy Dabakh Tivaouane hospital.

The Senegalese head of state ordered the opening of an investigation following this tragedy. The investigation will focus on the state of the facilities of the Tivaouane hospital but also on those of other health establishments in the country. (With MAP)
