Freight “non-Chinese” at the CTT exhibition in Moscow – Autoreview

As we already told, most of the truck manufacturers at the current construction exhibition CTT in the capital were represented by brands from China. In addition to the Europeans who refused to participate in the review, there were no our companies at the exhibition – neither KAMAZ nor GAZ. And the only opposition to the Chinese armada was the Belarusian MAZ and the Korean Daewoo Trucks – we’ll talk regarding them.

MAZ brought several interesting cars to the exhibition at once. The most formidable of them is an all-wheel drive dump truck with an 8×8 wheel arrangement. The total mass of this giant reaches 50 tons, and almost 27.5 tons of rock can be loaded into it.

The dump truck is driven by a 12-liter Weichai engine with 460 hp, and the gearbox here is an Allison six-speed hydraulic automatic. Interestingly, due to the sanctions with the supply of such units, problems have now begun, now MAZ is actively working on the issue of introducing a similar Chinese Fast Gear transmission.

And the body of this device is the Russian company Becema. It has a volume of 20 cubic meters, and a powerful visor protects the cabin from stones. With all this, the car is in road clearance and can safely move on public roads. The approximate cost of an all-wheel drive monster is regarding 15 million rubles.

Metal carriers traditionally have an orgomic body

Another interesting MAZ is a 6×4 metal carrier. Here is the same 12-liter engine as the rock climber, but it is tuned for less power – 423 hp. Gearbox – 12-speed “mechanics” Fast Gear. The carrying capacity of this machine is 16.3 tons, and the gross weight reaches 33.5 tons.

A 30-cc bunker body of the Russian company Phoenix from Naberezhnye Chelny is installed on the chassis. It actively uses the “sanctioned” Hardox steel, which is planned to be replaced by high-strength domestic counterparts in the future. The load capacity of the manipulator with a “paw” is 1350 kg. Such a car costs a little more than 10 million rubles.

Another four-axle MAZ dump truck, with the exception of one additional axle, is technically similar to a metal carrier. True, the gross weight of this machine is already 50 tons with a carrying capacity of 32 tons.

Interestingly, the chassis is equipped with a 22-cc dump body of the German company Grunwald. At the same time, it was manufactured at the company’s enterprise in Kaliningrad – in the current conditions, it continues to work normally, releasing bodies. By the way, they also use Hardox, which is planned to be replaced by domestic steel in the future.

Korean Daewoo crocodiles are the same from the face, but the number of options is large

Well, a slender line of trucks from Daewoo Trucks lined up on the street – various variants of the Novus model, regarding which our editor Fedor Lapshin told back in 2020. There are dump trucks on three- and four-axle chassis (with AMKAR bodies with a volume of 20 and 22 cubic meters, respectively), and a Barlax concrete mixer with a nine-cubic hopper, and a two-axle KSR concrete pump, and a flatbed truck with CMU, and a 6×4 tractor.

The units are very different: from a 280-horsepower engine on a two-axle to a 440-horsepower engine on a tractor. Gearboxes – exclusively mechanical, brands Eaton Fuller, ZF and Tongil. The cabins are bright due to the large glass area, but a bit cramped. And the interior is, to put it mildly, outdated.

The company’s plans for this year initially included the sale of more than a thousand Daewoo trucks, but the current situation will certainly make adjustments. However, by the fall, the company promises to bring an updated truck to the market, which they will bet on in the future.

As for the current cars presented at the exhibition, their prices are approximately the same. They ask for 11 million rubles for a tractor, a concrete mixer and an onboard version with a CMU are estimated at 14 million each, but the most expensive Daewoo is a concrete pump for 19 million.
