Dr. Rafaél Santini, MD, new president of the Society of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery of Puerto Rico

The vascular and endovascular surgeon “Board Certified” will assume this position between the period of 2022-2024.

Dr. Rafaél Santini Domínguez, president-elect of the Society of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery of Puerto Rico.

Through a statement, the Society of Surgery Vascular y Endovascular of Puerto Rico, reported that the specialist with practice at the Episcopal Medical Center San Lucas de Poncewas elected as President-elect for the next two years.

Dr. Rafael Santini Domínguez, MD, has stood out for its educational role in peripheral vascular diseasein addition to leading interventions of thoracic opening venous, paraneal aneurysm repair and different types of endovascular surgery In Puerto Rico, achieving that many patients have access to these procedures in the territory.

It is worth mentioning that Santini also performs his work as assigned to the Caribbean Vascular Center, in the company of Dr. Waika Vélez Colón and Dr. Jorge Martinéz. The new president it has been highlighted for being the protagonist of several clinical cases on the island and to be a great spokesperson for the care of vascular patients in times of pandemic.

His career as a doctor vascular and endovascular, has allowed him to obtain important recognitions outside the country, such as his participation in the Vascular Annual Meeting during 2021, which is the most important congress of vascular surgeons in the United States; there he presented two research regarding the increase in amputations during COVID-19 and a new intervention modality for patients with acute limb ischemia.
