Are you an AT&T user? The company will make bonuses and payments of $3 thousand

The Federal Consumer Protection Office (prophet) and AT&T reached an agreement whereby the company telefónica will discount and/or compensate more than 844 thousand of its clients, for the collection of “deferred equipment charge”, made between November 2018 and August 2019.

The benefits

-For consumers who no longer have current service, AT&T will return the amounts charged plus 20% for compensation.

-For current consumers, AT&T is obliged to discount the charges made plus 20% of compensation through an “internet-data” bag, consisting of 3 GB for each effective charge on each of the lines in which it has been made, without establishing a time limit for its consumption.

-For consumers who attended the prophet and gave their consent to join the class action lawsuit —who will be contacted directly by the Attorney General—, in addition to the above benefits, AT&T will pay compensation in the amount of $3,000.00 pesos.

With this agreement, the collective action trial that promoted the prophet from October 2020. The benefits may be requested by consumers who are under these assumptions until October 4, 2023, for which they must request it at their nearest Customer Service Center: https://www.att.com.mx/localiza-tu-tienda

The lawsuit was initiated following a judge certified compliance with the requirements of origin of the lawsuit for improper charges.

The dependency highlighted that it filed a collective action for the collection of 224.99 pesos for ‘Deferred equipment charge’ to 844 thousand 480 people who have contracts with the operator of telecommunications.

He added that this charge is not justified as it is not contemplated in the adhesion contract and title page registered and authorized by this institution.
