European Conference League .. “Historic” Mourinho decides his future with Roma

A state of great happiness dominated the Portuguese, Jose Mourinho, the Italian coach of Roma, in the wake of winning the European Conference League title, on Wednesday evening.

Mourinho, full of emotion, celebrated what he described as a historic achievement following becoming the second coach to win 5 European titles following Giovanni Trapattoni.

Mourinho, winner of the European Champions League, European League and Super Cup, completed a unique achievement by winning all continental titles following Roma’s 1-0 victory over Dutch Feyenoord in Tirana, in the first edition of the Conference League.

This was the fifth continental final that Mourinho has participated in since 2003, as he led Porto, Inter Milan, Manchester United and Roma, and came out in those matches with an exemplary record.

“The great thing regarding my career is, apart from winning the Europa League with United, to win with Porto, Inter and Roma, this is really exceptional,” the Portuguese coach said.

“It is different when everyone expects you to win the title and to do a great job and to be an eternal victory. This feeling is really exceptional,” he added.

“This is history for Roma and for me too. I knew that Alex (Ferguson) and Giovanni Trapattoni had won titles in 3 different decades. It makes me think I’m old but it’s great for my career. We’ve written an amazing history.”

It was a good end to Mourinho’s first season with the Italian capital team, as he led him to sixth place in the Italian League.

The Portuguese coach does not plan to leave Roma and is looking forward to next season with the team, and said in this regard, “I am staying without any doubt. Even if some speculation arises, I want to stay with Roma.”

And he added, “We have to understand what the owners of the club, who are great, want to do next season, because this is history, but we can build a strong project with really professional people.”

“Of course, I feel like I belong to Rome, but maybe this is my way of working. I’m a fan of Porto, Inter and Chelsea, and I adore Real Madrid. Now I’m a Roma fan. I belong to all these clubs because we spent time together.”
