careful American billionaire George Soros The Russian war in Ukraine might be the start of another world war.
Commenting on global challenges, foremost of which is the Russian-Ukrainian war, Soros added, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, that our civilization may not survive amid wars and their economic consequences.
Soros, who has become a hated figure for the hard right in the United States, also harshly criticized former German Chancellor Angela Merkel for her closeness to Moscow and Beijing.
He stressed that the German economy needs a long time to restructure itself, following benefiting from its deals with Russia and China.
He said, “Maybe the invasion was the beginning of World War III, and our civilization may not survive that.”
“The invasion of Ukraine did not come out of nowhere,” he added. “The world has increasingly become embroiled in a struggle between two systems of government that are diametrically opposed to each other: an open society and a closed society.”
He said the ongoing shutdown in China would disrupt supply chains and keep inflation high around the world, leading to a global recession.
